Day out at City Square

The weather today was terrific... at least it wasnt pouring and it wasnt as cold as yesterday.. Took a bus out on my own to Stora Torget to meet Martin in the afternoon.. The busstops in Sweden are way better than those in Singapore... they all have an electronic board to display the waiting time for the buses... and it is pretty accurate too... anyway the ride went smoothly since Martin had instructed me where to alight beforehand... i found out from Martin that the word "Stora Torget" means large/city square in Swedish... the City Square was really more happening than Ryd... could see more youngsters dressed up around the malls... Today's lunch had got to be the best since i arrived in Sweden... had a plate of beef kerbab with lotsa fries.. although it was pretty expensive (50 kronor) but at least it was filling...

Headed down to the bank to set up my bank account... Everything went well until the bank staff told me that i could not deposit my bank draft into the account.. in fact, i could but that will take up to 4-5 weeks with an administrative fee of 1200 kronor... WTH!! We decided to go over to the forex to see if we could come up with a better alternative but to no avail...

Went to a wine store and Martin got a bottle of wine for friday's party... He was telling me that we could only get wine and hard liquor from govt-owned shops in Sweden.. Those beer that we get from the grocery have a maximum of 3% alcohol only... Next we went to a couple of sport stores and got myself another pair of track pants... think i shall go jogging tmr if the weather permits... our last stop was at a coffee house in the square.. the place had very nice ambience and gave a sense of cosiness the moment i stepped in. By the time we left the place (around 4.30pm), it had already turned dark and rain was starting to pour once again..

Back at my dorm, i finally met a couple of my neighbours whilst preparing dinner... a swedish girl and a german guy... had a small conversation with them and realised that there's going to be a corridor meeting soon to decide on the cleaning schedule of the common area.. DARN!
